This song continues to burn into my heart the reality of how much our Heavenly Father and His Son gave up for me. It reminds me that although I was an unworthy wretch, God had compassion on me. My sin nailed Jesus to the cross; it turned God’s face away from His only begotten Son. But as sinful as I was, Christ was wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities. Through Him, I am forever forgiven. I am eternally grateful to our holy, but merciful Heavenly Father for making a way for us to be His children. Truly, “how deep the Father’s love for us.”

This song has really ministered to me in several situations in my life, mainly because it brings home in such a clear way how I need to trust in the Lord, and YIELD to Him. As the words of the song echo in my heart every now and then, the difficult problems of working through school, working at a job, and simply surrendering my will to the Lord are made easier, when I am reminded to Bow the Knee, and trust the heart of my Father. This song reminds me in the hard circumstances that I go through that He is always good, that He never fails.
